I am Anil Shanbhag, first year graduate student in the database group at CSAIL, MIT. I completed my bachelors in Computer Science at IIT Bombay. Love to think, build things, code, travel and my bed.
The web is my playground. The scale of the web, the vast amount of data generated and making sense of this data excites me. I’m interested in Database Systems, Big Data Management and Data Mining/Machine Learning on the web.
I have previously worked with Srikanth Kandula at Microsoft Research – Redmond, messing around with COSMOS and trying to see if approximation query techniques can be applied to big data queries. I later worked with Prof. Sudarshan on improving join enumeration in transformation-based query optimisers. Currently working with Prof. Sam Madden on bunch of secretive stuff I will write about soon.
