MIT Big Data Initiative at CSAIL is Awarded Grant from Alfred P. Sloan Foundation

Grant provides support for Big Data Privacy Workshop
June 18, 2013

The MIT Big Data Initiative at CSAIL was awarded a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation in support of the Big Data Privacy Workshop.

The goal of this workshop is to bring together a select group of thought-leaders from across academia, civil society, industry and government at MIT to focus on the issues and challenges around Data Privacy as it relates to Big Data.  Our aim is to think longer term (5 years +) and better understand and help define the role of technology in protecting and managing privacy particularly when large and diverse data sets are collected and combined.  We will use the workshop to collectively articulate major challenges and begin to layout a roadmap for future research and technology needs.
